Ashlene Nand is a marketing and branding executive, and fashion entrepreneur, from Sydney, Australia residing in New York City. Over the past 10 years, she has added big brands and big partnerships to her body of work with her out-of-the-box thinking on youth, lifestyle and entertainment marketing. These include MTV, the Simmons family, Disney Channel, Girl Scouts of the USA, Dove, Six Flags, CARE, Nike and more recently with Anvil Knitwear.

Ashlene began her career writing for local press and moved to New York to pursue music journalism. Concentrating on the R&B and Hip-Hop music scene, Ashlene was able to benefit from the growing demand for the music and shortly after arriving to New York she became the correspondent for a number of leading publications both in the U.S. and abroad. Her breadth of published work include over 100 interviews ranging from Missy Elliott, Jet Li, Enrique Iglesias and Mary J Blige, to thought-provoking music editorials such as ‘South Asians in Hip-Hop’ for XXL.

Ashlene further explored her career in music by releasing a collaborative world-music album under Bollyhood Records. It wasn’t long before artists and brands, such as Nike, were seeking her expertise in the South Asian market.

In 2008, she developed and executed her first national marketing campaign by signing Vanessa and Angela Simmons as the first spokespeople for the largest non-profit for girls, Girl Scouts of the USA. The campaign included PSAs from Rev Run, and a number of TV appearances on MTV. She then furthered her success by forming a partnership between Girl Scouts, where she was working as Brand & Marketing Manager, with the Disney Channel’'s top-rated girl band Cheetah Girls. Ashlene traveled to India for the partnership and led over 450 parties with 30,000 girls participating from across the country.

Ashlene continues to push the envelope in marketing and brand management and is also pursuing her passion for fashion. She is currently working on her own business, Haute Trotter, and blogs on Indian fashion & lifestyle at Brown By Ashlene. Ashlene graduated from the University of Western Sydney with Bachelors in Marketing.
